PostSubject: Official RPG Rules   Sun Aug 24, 2008 6:59 am

Please read these rules before partaking in any RPGs!

We'll be waaatttccchhhiiiinnnngggg!

  • Any Roleplay violating these rules will be inspected, and the creator prompted about the problem. If any major changes that effect your ACTIVE RPG are made, please try to fix them!

  • Any Roleplay with content considered inappropriate for a family setting WILL be locked and/or deleted depending on severity. The member(s) involved will receive punishment according to their actions.

No Godmoding!
No Godmoding in any Roleplay unless the creator and/or the character's creator gives permission. Remember, the topic creator's rules come first! (However watch for when rules clash. Most people hate the thought of other players speaking for their own character(s))

Godmoding is forcing any unintended action upon a character not controlled by you. Examples include:
Having other's attacks miss all the time
Doing literally anything without breaking a sweat (all attacks miss, all attacks hit)
Speaking for a character that is not yours
Controlling another person's character
These are only a few examples of Godmoding
Remember, Godmoding is frowned upon!
Also remember, if you suspect anyone of godmoding, contact and of the Mods or myself and we'll check it out!

No Spamming!
If you are not in an RPG you are not allowed to comment anything that someone posts
You may read any RPG you want, but you are not allowed to post in any RPG you want (for no reason)
Don't be rude and post "I can't join this RPG", that's just posting because you want the points. Posts like that from now on can and will be deleted on sight. It's just rude!

We'll get rid of these unwanted posts. We know how it feels and we hate it as much as you guys!

No Plagiarizing! And Absolutely no Copy RPGs (the same RPG made by two different people). The only way to play a copy RPG is if you ask the original creator if you may use the idea.
The last thing any of us would want, is an RPG that you made, and someone else copied it. If someone has done this, let us know as soon as possible! We don't want another member taking credit for your RPG!
If you did get permission, a thanks to the original creator, a quote from him on a PM, or -something- stating that he has given you permission to run his/her RPG, MUST be placed in your first post! The original creator will be able to say if you're lying, so if you did not get permission, you're caught either way!

No Flaming or changing the RPG into a "Get this *member*!" Topic
Best way to put this is, all of your characters suddenly attack a certain member's character, making the RPG hard for the particular player, or killing his/her character for no reason.
Also, DO NOT, refuse a person's application just because they refused you in a different RPG. This is discrimination. Be the better player and look at all applications, even from the person who refused you from his/her RPG.

STAY ACTIVE!!!

Only join the RPG if your are going to be serious about it, if you do not think you can participate, then please choose a less-important role
You must play through an RPG completely! Abandoning an RPG is treason! You must close your character's story yourself, or the RPG character will have free grabs to do with your character as he/she wants
No one wants to join/start an RPG and find out you got bored and left for another RPG! IT'S RUDE!!! Place your full attention into ALL of your RPGs!

RPG Guidelines
All RPGs are Required to have:

A Backstory (A story that leads up to the RPG's present)
The Creator's Guidelines or Rules (They should NOT conflict with the official rules)
A Character Signup Sheet
If your RPG does not contain these items you will be prompted either via PM or through a notice in your post (in BOLD RED LETTERS). If it is not changed within the given time-frame (1 week is the usual), your RPG WILL be locked!
You must post at least 7 lines of text in their post (count them in your posting window). (EXPLANATION BELOW)
NO double posting is allowed (This will greatly cut back the pages of RPGs) (Use the edit button!)
If you MUST post something shorter, please acknowledge and or apologize for the short post. (Quality of posts is better than the Quantity of posts)

Try to be grammatically correct and with your highest possible spelling in your posts, this will stop confusion, and let the RPG run smoother (and stop people from asking what you said)
We will understand if you are not familiar with a language's grammar, however if you are continually posting "i hit u" and "my char wanT 2 Beat u up!" then we're going to take action.
To help in your correcting, use programs such as Microsoft Word to correct your Spelling and most of your grammar!
(Trust me, the grammar part of Word is NOT the best thing to rely on, I have constantly found times where 'Word' has had my sentences saying stuff like "Which made he sound invincible")
Also, try to explain as clearly as possible to avoid confusion, if your character is talking, say who you're directing it to, especially when you're near or at a point of at least 2 characters joining another group.

Since the RPG Creator has set the story, he or she gets to decide who gets to be the center of attention. Most RPG Creators use their own character so that they may always have track of a story, however it is the Creator's choice not yours.
Forcibly taking the center of attention may make the RPG turn in a direction the RPG creator did not intend
The RPG Creator will GIVE permission for your character to be the center of attention. Asking for it will just get him/her mad at you.
All RPGs are for the members enjoyment
I, and I'm sure the rest of you, hate it when a member takes the RPG into his own hands. It has ruined my RPGs completely before!

5-Sentence/7 Line Rule

You must do at least 5 sentences OR 7 lines of text in your Posting window. If you do both, that's great, but just go towards getting one (heck go for 10 lines of text!)
If you were to put these "..." into a posting window, it will be 7 lines of text.
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
Only... They need to be straight sentences. 7 lines in your posting window comes to about 4-5 lines on a post, which is a good sized-post.
No matter what size your screen is, the posting window will remain the same size (640X480, 800X600, 1024X768, etc), this is why the 7-line guide is a perfect measurement
Add description into your posts, there is a fine line between rambling and description, if you describe an area or your character, it's good. If you just have random stuff that makes no sense, that's bad.
5-sentences is a good, bold, paragraph of text, I'd rather see 5 sentences awesome description than 15 sentences of rambling.
What would you rather read? Stop-and-go 2-sentence posts where it looked like the member ran to his computer, typed out of the spur of the moment then ran away... or a good paragraph or two? I would rather read story-quality posts than reading 100 forum pages of 2-sentence posts.
A good sentence is between 5 to 10 words long, and run-ons happen. If your post is a small wall of text (a nice fat 7 lines in your posting box), chances are it is 5 sentences long.
Don't fret if you cannot pull 5-sentences or seven lines. It happens! We're just trying to get people who like to post short sentences to post even longer! Example: Mel Blanc walked over to Picky. Mel said "blah blah" to Picky. Mel then walked away. Mel sits back down.

I know this all seems like to much, but I just want to make sure everything is fair for everyone. If anyone has a problem with these rules, contact me or a mod so they can contact me. so please, enjoy the RPG forums.
