 | Subject: DO NOT ASK HOW TO BECOME A MODERATOR! Fri Aug 22, 2008 3:20 am | |
| Please don't ask how you can become a moderator or administrator.
Administrators are only member of Mageman Universe family, so there is no way that you will become an administrator.
As for becoming a Moderator, My fellow moderators and myself have stated:
We look for people who have shown us that they have the qualities we need by their actions as members. The best thing to do if you're ever aspiring to become part of the Megaman Universe team of Moderators is keep up being a good member yourself, always do your very best to help the current Mods and Admins out, and prove yourself to be trustworthy and deserving over time.
Things that we DO look for when choosing new Mods:
- Understanding and following of the Rules of the Forums.
- Responsibility, morality, and good, positive behavior.
- Helpfulness to Moderators and Administrators in pointing out problems (through PM, not by posting!) and letting them do their job.
- Activity and dedication to the Forums.
We look only for people who have shown us that they have the qualities we need by their actions as members. Best thing to do if you're ever aspiring to become part of the Marriland team of Moderators is keep up being a good member yourself, always do your very best to help the current Moderators and Administrators out, and prove yourself to be trustworthy and deserving over time
Things that WON'T really help your chances of becoming a Mod:
- Skill level or knowledge in a particular forum or subject. Although it is a plus, remember: the job of Moderator is not to answer questions or give the best advice! It is to maintain order and keep people in line with the rules so we can all have a good time!
- Popularity and/or Post Count. These things mean nothing to us. You could have 50,000 posts and you'd be just as likely as someone with 1,000 posts. However, we typically look at those with at least 500 intelligent, well-mannered posts, because that at least shows that they've been here for awhile and are active.
- Failure to follow the rules. The Rules of the Forums aren't that difficult to follow. In fact, the thing we seek most in Moderators are good examples of members that behave in accordance to them and are able to follow them to make sure everyone has a good time. Not following them will earn you Demerits. Acting poorly and continuing to act so is not good "Modly" behavior.
- Private Messages asking to become a Moderator. If you're reading this, you're probably thinking "How do I become a Mod?" But, really, asking us directly about it typically shows that you are more interested in the position than you are in actually helping out. As long as you are helpful, active, and follow the rules to make sure everyone has a good time, you will be looked at and considered. Simple as that.
Of course, these lists are far from absolute, but I hope that helps answer some of your questions as to exactly the qualities we look for.
And most importantly, know the rules!
Topics that ask how to become a Mod or Admin will be locked without notice from now on.
